Today, we flew to DC with Campbell and Gigi and Papa Doc for a Spring Break trip to DC and Philadelphia. Campbell is so excited! He got to check out the cock pit and steer after we landed. And, he took his first subway ride from Reagan Airport into DC. He loved spinning around on the Metro! Dad is spoiling him with these first class upgrades… :).

Today, we went to the Arkansas capitol, where we saw several cool memorials.

Afterwards, we went to see Historic Old Mill, which is a replica that appeared in the opening scenes of Gone with the Wind. It was really beautiful and surprisingly cool!

Later, we had a few more birthday surprises when we got home. First, mom added some new Harry Potter stickers and put lights behind Campbell’s cool hogwarts artwork as a special surprise! And, Campbell got to open Pat-Pat and Bing’s birthday present – a new baseball glove! He was so excited! And, mom and dad also got him a laser tag set!

Campbell’s 7th birthday! Today we went to see the USS Razorback, a submarine that was used from WW2 through the Vietnam and then later by the Turkish Navy.

Campbell had an awesome time touring the submarine and talking to the veteran volunteers who were there. One of them even gave Campbell a cool Razorback challenge coin. And, he got a cool pilot hat. :). We also got to tour a tug boat used at Pearl Harbor. We had an awesome time!

Later, we went to the McArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, which was also super-fun!

But, the highlight of the day was going to the Clinton Museum. It was not very crowded, and we got to have a lot of time by ourselves in the mock up of Clinton’s oval office. The docents and guards were so nice and even let Campbell sit behind the desk for a picture. He asked all about the resolute desk and told them everything that he knew. :). It was super fun!

Later, we opened presents in the hotel room. 🙂

Then we went out for supper at the fancy hotel restaurant. We played Campbell’s new favorite game: Five Crowns, and everyone was so impressed with how good he was at dinner. He even tried some new things.

After supper, we had dessert in the room and lit one of the fun birthday candles that he loves. He went to sleep a very happy and tired 7-year-old. And one who insisted the candle sleep right next to him.

Today was Campbell’s 7th birthday party. We had a nerf gun party in the park. The original date was for yesterday, but the weather was so cold, so we decided to move it to today.

We had so much fun. Each child got a a fun favor bag with a nerf gun, safety goggles, extra nerf darts, nerf gun temporary tattoos, and a wristband to hold extra ammunition. We bought some fun inflatable barricades that the kids loved playing with. It was wonderful, and everyone had such a great time. We even got Campbell a special nerf gun vest to wear since he was the birthday boy. :).

Later, Campbell loved playing with one of his birthday presents – an archery set from Julie & Tracy!
